He growled, raising eyes against the stars where he had risen to cast down his throne. "Almost," he whispered balefully. "I almost brought down that holy pride." He waited long, and longer, but only silence answered, as the wind fell still. Frowning, a brooding beast in the gloom, he stared over the house, knowing so well that the seed of his life was inside, protected now by men who surrounded the structure with weapons that could never destroy this fantastic form he inhabited.MoreLess
