“Aurora grinned up at me, looking impressed. I winked at her and then put the egg rolls on a plate and carried them to the table, too, along with a small bowl of chilled mandarin oranges I’d gotten from a can.
“Dinner is served,” I said, taking my seat across from her.
“You really went out of your way,” she stated as I gestured for her to fill her plate.
“I have a confession to make,” I said.
“What’s that?” she asked.
“I cheated and didn’t grow the oranges myself.”
