““Griffin, come over here and meet my daughter.” Ronan Toomey chuckled. “Or should I say, meet again.”
Out of the glittering ballroom crowd, Griffin Hayes stepped forward, smiling across at Vanessa like he’d known her all his life. “Ronan never stops talking about you,” he said in a deep rich tone that belonged in broadcasting or, more likely, the bedroom. “He’s one very proud dad.”
“Talented, successful, and a classic beauty, like her mom.” Ronan’s gaze dropped before he re-pinned his loving smile. “She would be so proud of you, too.”
Ronan was Vanessa’s biggest fan. She was used to the praise, even during her so called ‘wild days’ when father and daughter had drifted apart. But now, with Griffin and his gorgeous mirror-gray gaze obviously waiting for something more from the prodigy than her polite ‘Nice to meet you’, Vanessa felt her cheeks go hot, like a grade schooler caught sneaking a look at her crush.
