“I couldn’t think what to do.
I was at a loss. I had a couple of weeks to kill before we went on our family vacation. After that, I would come back and get ready for college. I planned to work part-time while studying, so I was aiming to get there a few weeks earlier than I needed to. Anyway, so I was hanging around the house like a bad smell. I showered quickly, thinking that Shane would pop in and I would miss him if I stayed in there too long. I wanted to call one of my friends, but then ...I decided against it for the same reason. I had no reason to do anything when the phone rang. “Jessica, you at home?”Mom said on the phone whilst sounding frantic. Panic set in as I thought of Shane doing something silly as a result of last night.
“Yes,” I answered nervously. “Why, what’s up?”
