“Didn’t mean for us to have sex out here in the open.”     She smiled and kissed my arm. “I liked it. Maybe we can make this a tradition.”     “I’m game.” If I’d have come even remotely prepared, I would have cuddled her against me and covered us with a blanket or two and slept out here under the stars.     But I hadn’t brought a damn thing. I’d only been thinking about dinner and making her happy—or at least to forget all the stuff about her mom for a few hours. I’d managed both, but now we had to return to the real world and leave our sanctuary.     That I already considered it to be a safe space reaffirmed the crazy whirlwind way I’d bought it.     “Should we head home?”     She frowned. “I guess. But can we come back again?”     I kissed the tip of her nose and helped her stand. “Anytime.” I glanced up at the hole in the patio awning.
