‘A lovely afternoon,’ said Mr Trout. He felt no embarrassment at this encounter.
Members of Bachelors Anonymous never felt embarrassment when meeting those in whose matrimonial plans they had interfered. To him Joe was just another out-patient who had come to him needing treatment, and this treatment he had given him.
