“I couldn’t sleep. Too much was happening in my life. I rose, made a pot of coffee and read the paper, when it was eight o’clock, hoping April was up, I called her.
“Hello.”
“It’s me. I need to see you.”
“What’s up?”
“Among other things, I decided to get a divorce.”
“All right! I’m in the middle of exercising. Why don’t we meet for coffee and a pastry at the Paradise Bakery in Gainey Ranch after I finish and shower. Is ten okay?”
I was so nervous, I didn’t want to wait around so I went early and... had a Denver omelet.
April, looking like a million dollars as she always does, waltzed in at ten after. “Sorry, I’m late.”
I smiled. “That’s all right, I came early to make up for it. How’s your divorce coming?”
“It’s supposed to be final in thirty days. Why, do you want to use my lawyer?”
I pursed my lips. “Maybe. I don’t know any divorce lawyers, so if you’re happy with yours, I’ll use him.”
April opened the menu. “So you decided to take the plunge.”MoreLess
