“We slept in but I called Will as soon as my eyes were focused enough to see the numbers on my phone. I was frantically apologetic, feeling guilty for having enjoyed my long, uninterrupted night of slumber so much.
He told me to stop apologizing and to enjoy my time with Caroline. He said the girls were just fine, and he was actually really enjoying having them all to himself. We shopped all day. I bought the girls dresses for their baptisms and a few toys from FAO Schwarz. I’d never spent so much on them, but Caroline told me to get used to it. She was just sorry that they wouldn’t be old enough to be flower girls in her wedding. I suggested that she plan the wedding far enough out so that maybe they could crawl down the aisle but that was a No-Go.
When Will picks me up at the airport he’s quiet. Unusually quiet.
