How come Tottie is so taken with you?’ ‘I don’t know.’ Harriet shrugged helplessly. ‘Dogs do just seem to take to me.’ ‘Look—’ he studied her ‘—sit down and have another cup of tea—no, I’ll pour it—hang on, I’ve got a better idea.’ He guided her to a chair at the dining table and pulled it out for her.
