I kneeled on the floor with a big piece of white butcher paper spread out in front of me, coloring the banner I was making for Sanctuary. I bit my quivering lip and capped off the purple marker. While I colored inside the outlined black letters, I couldn’t help but allow tears to form in my eyes. My eyes blurred as the tears dripped onto the butcher paper, staining it completely.
