The young men Klane’s age spoke about stalking game animals, women, and raiding other clans. Otherwise, they were a dour lot unless drunk. While drunk, any warrior could be dangerously foul or very merry. There was no telling which, although Klane constantly sought for a clue. The young men Klane’s age were similar to each other. They were brown-skinned, dark-haired and uniformly thick with muscles. They carried flint knives, bone-tipped spears, and wore the cured skin or leather of the vargr.
