"My father was a copper miner by trade, and when he decided he couldn't take another Montana winter, he moved my mother and me down to Arizona. The town wasn't much of an improvement when it came to excitement, but at least we enjoyed warmer winters. We had always kept a few horses, and so I knew how to ride almost from the time I could walk.
