Are you a reader who reads a lot and therefore is not interested in drivel? And do you like complex, interesting women leads? If the answers to these two questions are yes, then this is an excellent book for you to read and/or listen too. I purchased this book on Audible and the author was also the reader. Fabulous. I love how her interpretation of her own work adds to one's understanding of what is occurring. Interestingly enough, at the end of the audio version, she cites f
...ootnotes and other items that are available in the written version but impossible to include on the audio version. I also purchased the book. Here is what you need to know: get through the first several pages. It is meant to be annoying in the beginning. It's part of the allurement to get involved in the connectedness of characters' lives. Be open. The author speaks/writes from an Asian perspective. This is not a little neat white American story. Follow the book through to the end. Then mull bits of it over and over (that will happen naturally). That's it. Connect. Feel. Wonder.

Intriguing, a little crazy, but very good company. The audiobook doesn't come with graphic aids but it includes the author herself making all the voices and accents and it's a lot of fun. And the thought remains: not knowing may be the most intimate thing, or something like that. And not knowing makes every possibility remain alive, all the alternative worlds are possible. As a writer myself, I wonder if the author simply didn't know which alternative to pick so she chose not to pick any. Just a thought ;)
