““How the hell did this happen?”
he asked.
Everyone but Mack and Jake laughed.
“You need an explanation?” Gray asked.
“You know what I mean,” Mack said with a scowl.
“It’s simple,” Jake said. “I messed up big time.”
“Well, don’t be too hard on yourself, man,” Trent said.
“It is what it is.”
“That’s why you walked away?” Luke asked.
Jake nodded. “Seeing that woman with the baby and then the pregnant woman… it just got to me, you know? It made me think of what’s going to happen to Chloe. With Chlo...e. The fact that I’m going to be a father. It just… it just got to me.”
Jake finished his beer and put the bottle on the counter. He looked at the band, desperate for someone to say something.
“And you’re the one who helps him?” Gray asked Trent with a confused look on his face.
“We share common interests here,”
Trent said. “You guys don’t get what it’s like to be with Chloe.”
