TAE says: A most excellent coming-of-age tale for a young woman interested in scientific discovery... and dragons. As characters go, Lady Trent (the protagonist) is very similar to Amelia Peabody (from the author Elizabeth Peters) and I appreciated her no nonsense and forthright approach to life.In general, this is going on my list of "Books y'all should read if you haven't" and I'll be starting the next novel post-haste. ladybug242 says: When I originally saw it, I thought it was going to be a stu...dy of dragons, not a work of fiction. However, when I started reading it, I was hooked. The story of Isabella Camherst is a sad one, but one that she worked hard to acheive. Growing up in a time where women were to be seen and not heard, she had to earn respect to become a dragon researcher. She convinces her husband to let her accompany him and a few others to the mountains of Vystrana, and after coming to understand and grow fond of her maid, coming to terms with Mr. Wilker, and getting involved with smugglers, (safely), she learns she may have unleashed an ancient draconian god on the town of Drustanev. This book is outstanding and shows the courage, determination, and inner dragon of young Isabella Camherst.MoreLessRead More Read Less
