“It was close to three-thirty. The owner was running late. Normally it wouldn’t matter, but today Cassie wanted to get to a couple of yard sales before everything was already picked over. She was looking for a playpen in good condition.
“Sorry I got held up.”
“No problem, Mildred.”
“How are things?”
“Just fine!”
“How do you stay so cheerful when we both know most days it’s a royal pain?”
“Not to me.”
“You’re so great at this job I hope you never leave. Now go on home ...and relax.”
“Thanks, Mildred. See you tomorrow.”
