Middle High German is the term used for the period in the history of the German language between 1050 and 1350. This volume was written by a Professor of Comparative Philology at Oxford University, Joseph Wright (1855–1930). He specialised in the Germanic languages and wrote several introductory grammars for Old English, Middle English, Old High German, Middle High German and Gothic which were still being revised and reprinted 50 years after his death.
