“My dress and the churned-up dust from the road clung to me, my heart racing from the speed and from how I kept bumping into John as he hugged the curves of the road.
I clung to the dash as he made a sharp turn to the right and headed down a long drive before parking. My exhilaration vanished when I saw I was once again at the Ellis plantation. “Why are we here, John?”
“I thought we’d go for a swim. Cool off a little.”
“But I didn’t bring my swimming costume.”
