Trying to let the noise from the Chinook helocopter that flew them all to saf...ety drown out the noise of the battle still raging inside his head to no avail, Chase closed his eyes, holding a bandage over one of his own wounds. It was doubtful he’d ever get those sounds out of his mind. Explosions, rapid gunfire, screams of the dying...and the Ritchie’s gurgling death rattle as he died in Chase’s arms just before they evacuated. True, they’d saved eight men, but Chase was seriously wondering if it had been worth the cost.
