How on earth she managed to have just the right pose every time there was a camera near remains a mystery. But my mother’s photo does give me pause. When my mother, Traci Malliard, is spoken of in public, both my father and I don a sorrowful, reverent look that would make even the most callous of journalists cower in sympathy for our shared pain over her untimely loss.
