Because Grace wasn’t with him, the evening was quickly taking on the quality of a nightmare. The two of them had only been apart for a few short hours, but already it felt like an eternity. There was a dull ache inside his chest, his appetite had completely disappeared, and he could hardly summon up the energy or interest to talk to his friends.
