“It was barely 7:00 a.m., but Cara was hot jogging along the beach path at the Santa Monica shore. She stripped off her sweatshirt and tied it around her waist, letting her bare arms drink in the cool breeze coming off the ocean. She’d been sweating against her tank top, and the cooling dampness reenergized her pace.
