Gwendolyn and John exchanged innocent looks. “She is lovely to look at, is she not?” John stated “Lovely is all she is. She cares nothing for anything of importance.” Matthew had promised his brother that he would choose a bride upon his return. “They have moved on. Perhaps they thought you had an aversion to women from your evident lack of affection toward them.”
