“While the other residents of Widowsfield happily accepted their demise, and allowed themselves to dissolve in the warmth of a heavenly light, Desmond stuck to the shadows. Was this rapture? Had Widowsfield been a purgatory for the sinful to waste away in? Had God finally forgiven them..., but forgot about the children?
